From this post onward, I will be publishing the monthly downloads and revenue made from my apps. Thanks very much to Matt from ‘My App Income’ for suggesting the idea to me!
I hope this can be a good way to be accountable and set targets for myself. Hopefully this will be something I can look back on positively down the track!
This month I did not release any new apps so download numbers stayed low. The main issue I think is that the content of both apps (the Indian Premier League and the Olympics) is not relevant so people searching the App Store won’t have much motivation to download them. So it’s clear I have to pick up my game to see better results.
So after over two years of writing down ideas and starting projects I would never end up completing, I have finally made the step of releasing my first iPhone app!
The app is a trivia game about cricket’s biggest domestic Twenty20 tournament, the Indian Premier League.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step
Start With Reskinning
Like many appreneurs before me, I will be starting my app business by going down the route of reskinning apps. This is the way suggested by Chris Chidgey of the App Business Podcast and many others.
For those of you who do not know, reskinning essentially involves purchasing source code and then editing content such as the text, sounds and graphics to create your own unique app. The nice this about reskinning is that you can use the code over and over again to create multiple apps, without having to write a single line of code.
Hi, my name is Shamil and welcome to my blog where I blog about my journey into building an apps business and talk about all things relating to it.
